Summer is here and many of us will be going on vacation. As we all know, there’s much more to travelling than just booking a flight. Finding accommodation, locating the right attractions, reading restaurant reviews, searching for free Wi-Fi and even finding a date are all part of each traveller’s journey. It is no wonder, then, that tourism is an ever-growing market sector that is estimated to reach $354 billion by 2020¹.
To give our clients exposure to this booming market, we have revamped the TravelKit Smart Portfolio, to encompass companies from all aspects of travel, from airlines to hotel bookings to all of the sectors mentioned above. Now, the TravelKit portfolio offers a truly comprehensive thematic investment opportunity in the travel industry.

A traveller’s journey
Every trip overseas starts with an online booking. TravelKit contains several stocks from leading booking companies, such as Expedia and Booking.com, airlines such as Delta and Lufthansa, and even cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean.
Once your flight is booked, your next step would be to find accommodation. TravelKit covers this leg of your journey with stocks from the hospitality sector, such as Marriott and Hilton.
So your flight is booked and hotel reserved. What’s next…
Oh right, time to pack your bags. The portfolio has no less than four luggage manufacturers, including Hermes and Kering. To get to the airport, you’ll most likely get an Uber and when you land, you may want to rent a car from AVIS or Hertz. If the flight gets too boring, you can always watch some Netflix or listen to your favourite Spotify playlist.
Do you have a layover? If so you will be looking for a Wi-Fi connection to pass the time, and if it’s in the States, you will most likely connect to a free network offered by AT&T or T-Mobile. And if you get hungry, you will look for the nearest McDonald’s or Starbucks.
Once you’ve reached your destination, there’s a good chance you’ll want to find some leisurely activities. If you’re travelling with family, you might want to go to the nearest Disney park, and if you’re all adults, you could over to the local casino, operated by Wynn or MGM Resorts International.
If you’re a single person travelling alone, there’s a good chance you will pull out your smartphone and look for a friendly local to show you around on Match Group’s Tinder app and check out the latest recommendations on TripAdvisor to find the perfect spot for a dinner date. When the bill comes, you will probably reach into your wallet and use your Visa or MasterCard for payment.
As you can see, no matter what aspect of travel you think about, TravelKit has a company whose services you may well use.
