OpenBook introduces
social investing
OpenBook marked eToro’s first step into social trading – a community-driven platform where users could share insights and follow each other’s moves. With CopyTrader, anyone could replicate successful traders’ strategies.


2012
The eToro mobile app
eToro launched a mobile app for both WebTrader and OpenBook, allowing users to perform any action on the platform on the go.


2013
Stocks and Bitcoin added
eToro expanded its offerings with global stocks and Bitcoin trading, giving users more choice to diversify across asset classes, including digital currencies.

All-in-one eToro platform
eToro merged social and trading features into one seamless experience – an intuitive interface combining the best of WebTrader and OpenBook.

Launched in Australia
eToro officially launched in Australia, bringing its app and trading capabilities to a growing audience of Aussie investors.


2017
Smart Portfolios and even more cryptoassets
Smart Portfolios (then CopyFunds) grouped assets by themes and strategies, alongside a broader crypto offering, including XRP, Ether, and Litecoin.


2019
Zero commission on stocks and US expansion
eToro introduced 0% commission on stocks globally and launched its US crypto platform, later expanding to include stocks and options.


2021
eToro Money, US equities launch, and eToro Academy
eToro launched equities trading in the US with zero commission and fractional shares, plus GBP and EUR accounts via eToro Money in the UK. That same year, eToro introduced the eToro Academy, a financial education hub with over 3,000 resources in 11 languages.


2022
Options, proxy voting, and EU wallet expansion
US clients gained access to options trading and proxy voting for US stocks. eToro Money expanded into the EU, enhancing the trading experience.


2023
AI and growth in new regions
eToro launched in the UAE, introduced ISA accounts in the UK, and began embedding AI into user experiences across the platform.


2024
Local currencies, global reach
Clients could now trade in local currencies and vote on all stocks via proxy, as eToro surpassed 20 connected stock exchanges globally.


2025
eToro goes public on Nasdaq
After 18 years of innovation, eToro celebrated its milestone IPO and is now officially listed on Nasdaq, marking a new chapter in its global story. Later that year, eToro officially launched in Singapore, bringing its app and trading capabilities to local investors.
