28 January 2025 – Trading and investing platform eToro and WisdomTree, a global exchange-traded fund (ETF) and exchange-traded product (ETP) provider, have collaborated to launch a portfolio providing eToro users with a diversified way to invest in commodities that adapts dynamically to market conditions.
2024 saw several commodities reaching record-high prices, including gold amid the Fed’s rate cuts and ongoing geopolitical conflict, as well as cocoa and coffee due to extreme weather conditions caused by climate change. Long-term macro trends such as the green energy transition and development of artificial intelligence are also driving demand for metals like copper, silver, and platinum for the required hardware and infrastructure.
The WisdomTree-Comm Smart Portfolio invests in 24 commodities through the WisdomTree Enhanced Commodities UCITS ETF, which makes up 80% of the portfolio. The commodities basket provides exposure to agriculture, energy, precious metals and industrial metals, offering a well-diversified allocation.
The remaining 20% of the portfolio is rebalanced monthly and made up of four equally weighted single-commodity ETPs. Selected from a pool of 13 commodities, excluding the agricultural sector, the chosen ETPs have the highest combined score across three factors: momentum, identifying strong recent performers; roll yield, prioritising favourable term structures; and low volatility, focusing on stable commodities.
