eToro becomes key sponsor of women’s football – partnering with Arsenal, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton

London, July 5 2023 – Trading and investing platform eToro will be a key sponsor of women’s football next season after agreeing partnership deals with Arsenal, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton.

The partnerships – which also include sponsorship of the men’s teams at all four clubs – are a major step for eToro as the business looks to ramp up its presence in women’s sport, particularly in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

Expansion into the women’s game will also help eToro to further engage with the UK’s fast-growing population of female retail investors – the proportion of eToro clients who are female has jumped 33% since the Covid pandemic.

Stephanie Wilks-Wiffen, Director of Marketing at eToro commented: “Football and investing have traditionally been male dominated activities but in the last few years, this has been turned on its head. With the explosion of women’s football, and the growing number of female retail investors, it makes complete sense for eToro to have a presence at women’s games, where we can support the continued growth of this sporting community. After a season in which the average attendance at women’s games almost tripled, and with the Word Cup now just weeks away, we couldn’t be joining the women’s game at a more exciting time. Hopefully our presence at these matches can encourage more women to consider investing as a way of improving their financial future.”

The collaboration will see eToro branding visible at games on perimeter advertising systems around stadiums, while eToro will also be teaming up with the clubs on activations throughout the season. For the partner clubs, the sponsorship provides an opportunity to connect with the UK’s rapidly-growing retail investor community.

The deals also demonstrate eToro’s growing investment in British sport, following a recent tie up with Premiership Rugby.

Arsenal’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juliet Slot, said: : “Our extended partnership with eToro is another strong indicator of growth in women’s football and our continued investment to make the game a strong proposition for our partners. It’s exciting to see the way the game is developing, with the crowds coming in numbers to see our matches and commercial partners also supporting the growth of the game in new areas. Sustainable growth is only possible through collaboration, and it’s great to have bold, like-minded partners joining us on our journey.”

Richard Kenyon, Everton’s Chief Commercial and Communications Officer, said: “It’s our great pleasure to welcome eToro back to Everton as an Official Partner and to see their partnership extending to include Everton Women for the first time. We look forward to working with eToro and helping them to achieve their commercial aims.”

Comment from Nathan Thompson, West Ham United Chief Commercial Officer: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with eToro, a collaboration that extends its support not only to our men’s team but also to our women’s team. This partnership signifies a momentous step forward in our commitment to growing women’s football, empowering our players, and providing them with the resources they need to excel. Together with eToro, we are determined to create a lasting impact, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity within the sport we love. This partnership not only elevates our women’s team but also amplifies the voices of WSL clubs, inspiring the next generation to chase their dreams. We are incredibly excited about the positive strides we will take together to shape a brighter future for women’s football.”

Barry Webber, Chief Commercial Officer, at Crystal Palace FC said: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with eToro, which began with the club in 2018. eToro is an innovative and globally recognised brand, and this partnership is a significant part of our commercial growth strategy for the Palace Women’s team.”
