If you’ve felt that your feed has been more interesting lately – you are correct!
This week we introduced an important update to your personal “My Feed” stream.
“My Feed” appears on your OpenBook homepage (formerly named “Watchlist”) and includes discussions and trading activities of people you follow.
What has changed?
Up until now your feed included all trading activities of people you follow, including each and every copied trading activity. We realized that when viewing followed people activities on “My Feed”, it’s interesting to know what users are trading and investing in manually, as well as whenever they start or stop copying a trader. However, once the followed user is copying a trader, it’s not relevant to see each and every trading position he/she automatically copies. These copied trades activities created a lot of “noise” within your feed, at the expense of other, more interesting, feed items.
“Organic” or explicit trading activities of people you follow will still appear on your feed, and you’re more than welcome to check out the “Copy Trade” option within it (if you haven’t yet).
To summarize, “My Feed” will now include all discussion, badges and trading activities of people you follow, except copied trading activities.
The purpose of this change is to make your feed more interesting. It’s important to note that eToro is an open and transparent network and you can still view all trading activities, including copied ones, on users’ profile pages.
Our R&D team leader also wrote a post on the subject in his personal blog. You can take a look here.
