eToro celebrates becoming the Premier League’s biggest club sponsor for the 2019/20 season

Six legends debate the smartest summer transfers and top targets for their clubs, in unique London event hosted by Layla Anna-Lee.

Today (1st August 2019) eToro, the global multi asset investment platform, celebrated being the biggest Premier League club sponsor for the second year in a row* by staging a debate with six Premier League legends. Host, Layla Anna-Lee, quizzed the legends on the completed summer transfers and the smartest investments their clubs could make over the next seven days.

Matt Le Tissier (Southampton F.C.), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur F.C.), Clinton Morrison (Crystal Palace F.C.), Steve Walsh (Leicester City F.C.), Ian Taylor (Aston Villa F.C.) and Leon Osman (Everton F.C) engaged in a debate regarding their club’s transfers and prospects for the 2019/20 season.

The activity celebrates eToro’s position as the most prolific Premier League club sponsor, having signed contracts with six clubs for the 2019/20 season, on-par with adidas, who are the most used team kit supplier in the league. The clubs are Crystal Palace F.C., Leicester City F.C., Southampton F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and new partnerships added with Aston Villa F.C. and Everton F.C.

 Iqbal V. Gandham, UK Managing Director at eToro said;

‘We’re proud to be the Premier League’s biggest club sponsor. Working with six clubs for the second year in a row demonstrates our commitment to our customers, and to the fans. We want to open up our club partnerships for all and to use this celebration to enable smart insights into transfer dealings from industry experts, just like our market leading investment platform.

Host, Layla Anna-Lee who led the debate said;

‘With just seven days remaining in this Summers’ transfer window, it’s brilliant that eToro has brought these Legends together to discuss the smartest transfers for their clubs, giving fans an unrivalled insight into the business yet to be done, and the effect it may have on their club’s success this season.’

Legends quotes:

Everton – Leon Osman

“Everton have invested a lot of money in the team, and I’ve been impressed by some of the shrewd deals they’ve made to build this squad. I think you’ve always got to strive to be at the very top, that is our way, and for me it’s starting to feel like we’re ready for the new season.”

Southampton – Matt Le Tissier

“I’m pretty excited about Southampton’s investments in this window. One thing we lacked last season was a bit of pace but we’ve brought in Ché Adams and Moussa Djenepo who are both pretty quick, pretty strong players. I think the £20 million we’ve paid for Danny Ings who was on loan last season, we’ve made that move permanent which was always going to happen, so that’s smart value.”

Aston Villa – Ian Taylor

We’ve had a fantastic transfer window with some very smart transfers. I think Tom Heaton could be one of the best signings of the whole window.  He’s still got years ahead of him. He probably still has five or six years ahead of him – I think is fantastic.

Crystal Palace – Clinton Morrison

“It’s hard to say if the business we’ll do this window will result in good investments, as the market is in a bit of flux at the moment. In my heart of hearts, I don’t think any more players will leave, and if that’s the case – I know we’ll be very competitive this season.”

Leicester – Steve Walsh

“it’s starting to get very late in the window so I hope we only add to our squad in the next 7-days, it’s certainly going to be an interesting week!! I think Brendan will be happy with the transfer window thus far as we’re pretty much covered now in most areas and looking set for a solid season.

Tottenham – Ledley King

“I’m very excited about the signing of Ndombele. I got my chance to see him up close for the first time in pre-season and I was impressed by him. He’s only 22 years old and Pochettino has a great track record of developing young players and improving them so I think he’ll be a smart investment.”

The debate involved the Legends listing the key players their clubs had/would sign in the remaining seven days of the transfer window and explaining why, in their opinion, they would be ‘smart investments’ for the season.
