In for the long haul: Meet Popular Investor AtlasCapital

Recently, eToro Popular Investor Vladyslav Koptiev shared some good news with his followers on his feed. Koptiev, known as AtlasCapital on eToro, let everyone know that he has been in profit for the last three years. While you may think that is insignificant, Koptiev advises potential copiers to stick with him for the long haul, or in other words, three to five years. And now, he has delivered. Koptiev will tell you that if you look at his portfolio, know that every asset is there for a reason, although that might not be evident at first glance. Tell us a little about yourself!

I am from Ukraine and decided to pursue a career in finance because my favourite subject is mathematics. In my spare time, I like reading and playing Go.

What’s your background in finance?

I’m a qualified accountant and since 2016, I have been residing in Malta after accepting a new opportunity from one of the Big4 audit firms. I hold a Master’s degree in Finance and achieved fellowship status at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

During my career, I have worked for more than 10 years in various accounting and audit positions. These experiences have allowed me to apply thorough analysis of listed companies to identify possible undervalued companies.

My first investment operation began in 2013, when I bought stocks in an Italian energy conglomerate. I am a long-standing follower of the value investing school introduced by Benjamin Graham and developed by many famous investors.

What is your strategy and have you changed it recently to adapt to the volatile markets?

Since investors, on average, fare better with less volatile investments, I try to lower volatility to a level where the trade-off between return and risk is optimal. However, there can be no assurance that the investment objective will be realised.

I use data mining websites which contribute to my analysis of assets. Before considering a particular stock as a potential investment, it must pass some fundamental screens and have a decent reputation among the public.

How has eToro impacted the way you trade?

First, the wide variety of assets offered on the eToro platform has allowed me to achieve a decent level of diversification. Second, the understanding that people are looking to you for investment wisdom and copying your every move gives a new-found perspective on the seriousness that comes with each investment decision.

What’s your long-term trading goal?

My investment objective is to grow my capital by dynamically managing the asset allocation between equity and fixed income/cash, based on the relative valuation of the equity and debt markets.

Any message to copiers or potential copiers?

Remember the two most important attributes for investing in stocks patience and liquidity. I am excited to be able to trade on the eToro platform where investors can copy my trades. I believe that my investment strategy brings success and I welcome all copiers who believe that my investment strategy can help their financial situation.
