What Is Tezos?
Launched in 2018, Tezos is a cryptoasset platform similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum in its use of smart contracts and blockchain technology. However, unlike its counterparts, Tezos prides itself on its ability to evolve and develop with the ever changing market, to avoid hard forks which have plagued many cryptoassets in the last decade. The native coin of Tezos is XTZ, and Tezos claims that through their use of Proof-of-Stake mechanisms, XTZ is one of the more eco-friendly cryptoassets on the market, needing much less energy than traditional Proof-of-Work mechanisms.

Tezos refer to themselves as “secure, upgradable and built to last”, working to ‘future proof’ their technology and remain relevant for years to come. They also encourage their users to have a say in the development of the blockchain, which keeps the governance decentralized. As of September 2021, there are 840 million coins in circulation, with no cap on the maximum supply.
