The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund tracks the performance of select companies within the consumer staples industry in the US, such as beverage, tobacco, and food companies. Managed by Boston-based State Street Global Advisors Funds Management Inc., this ETF was established in December 1998.

The key objective of the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund is to simulate the investment performance of the Consumer Staples Select Sector Index. All the companies held by this fund are part of the S&P 500, which includes large companies listed on stock exchanges within the United States. The fund generally invests at least 95% of its total assets in stocks for companies that are listed in the index. The base currency for this fund is USD.

Stock for the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR fund is listed on the NYSE under the ticker XLP. This fund includes investments in the following industries: household products, beverages, food, and staples retailing, food products, tobacco, and personal products. This fund is non-diversified.
