What Is Financial Select Sector SPDR?
The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund tracks the performance of select companies within the financial services industry, such as banks, mortgage real estate investment trusts, and insurance companies. Managed by Boston-based State Street Global Advisors Funds Management Inc., this ETF was established in December 1998.

The key objective of the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF is to replicate the investment performance of the Financial Select Sector Index. All the companies held by this fund are part of the S&P 500, which includes large companies listed on stock exchanges within the United States. This fund's base currency is USD. In general, this fund invests at least 95% of its total assets in stocks for companies that are listed in the index.

Stock for the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF is listed on the NYSE under the ticker XLF. This fund includes investments in the following industries: banks, diversified financial services, capital markets, insurance, mortgage real estate investment trusts (REITs), thrifts and mortgage finance, and consumer finance. This fund is non-diversified. As of 10 December 2021, some of the fund's top holdings included Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup.
