Walmart Inc. is a leading retailer that operates wholesale stores, e-commerce stores, and other units and outlets. Founded in 1962, the company was first known as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and changed its name to Walmart, Inc. in February 2018. With its headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, it operates in the United States and internationally. As of December 2021, Walmart operates approximately 10,500 stores and clubs under 48 banners in 24 different countries and e-commerce sites.
The company’s three segments are Walmart U.S., Walmart International, and Sam’s Club. Outlets and stores include supermarkets, hypermarkets, warehouse clubs, cash and carry stores, and discount stores. Walmart also runs membership-only warehouse clubs and e-commerce online sites such as walmart.com, flikart.com, and samsclub.com, which include mobile app availability. Its grocery products include snacks, dairy, meats, fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, deli items, bakery goods, and frozen foods. Beverages comprise alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Walmart also sells personal care, beauty, baby, and health and wellness products. In addition, consumers can buy household and paper goods as well.
Other offerings include gasoline stations, tobacco products, home improvement tools, outdoor and gardening implements, jewellery, electronics, and gaming products. Walmart trades on the NYSE under the WMT ticker.
