The iPath Series B S&P 500 VIX Short-Term FuturesTM ETN is designed to provide investors with exposure to the S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Index. This instrument represents an exchange-traded note, which is a debt instrument that is issued and maintained by Barclays Bank PLC. It is important to note that as an ETN, Barclays Bank backs the index by credit and not by assets. This ETN was founded in 2018.

The S&P 500 VIX Short-Term FuturesTM Index is designed to provide access to equity market volatility through the CBOE Volatility Index (the VIX Index) futures. The Index offers exposure to VIX futures contracts and reflects market participants’ views of the future direction of the VIX index.

Based on its short-term performance, investors of the ETN may receive a cash payment. Cash payments to be made to investors in ETNs, including any payment at maturity or upon redemption, depend on the ability of Barclays Bank PLC to satisfy its obligations at the time they come due.
