The firm was founded in 1978 and was originally known as Trimble Navigation Limited but changed its name to Trimble Inc. in October 2016.

Trimble’s technology solutions aim to enable professionals and field mobile workers to effectively manage their work processes, operating through four distinct segments: Buildings and Infrastructure, Geospatial, Resources and Utilities, and Transportation. The company produces systems to guide and control construction equipment, systems to monitor, track, and manage assets, equipment, and workers, and software solutions that share and communicate data among key people within organisations.

The company serves clients in a wide range of industries, including agriculture, construction, civil engineering, forestry, rail and electric and water utilities. The firm’s solutions are used in more than 150 countries, with Trimble having a presence in around 40 countries, along with a network of dealers and distribution partners worldwide. Trimble Inc. trades on the NASDAQ where it is listed under the ticker TRMB.
