The firm also operates a travel comparison shopping website, allowing users to book a wide range of travel experiences including hotel reservations and bookings for transportation, lodging, travel experiences, attractions, and restaurants. The firm was founded in 2000 and is based in Needham, Massachusetts.

The firm helps around 463 million travellers each month, allowing them to browse approximately 860 million reviews and ratings of around 8.7 million accommodation options, airlines, cruises, experiences, and restaurants. TripAdvisor allows users to compare prices from hotel booking sites around the web, and make instant online booking with a variety of travel providers. The firm’s site and app are available in 49 markets, and in 28 languages.

The company has a number of subsidiaries and affiliates, including its online restaurant reservations offering, TheFork.com, and sites such as CruiseCritic.com, FlipKey.com, HolidayLettings.co.uk, and Viator.com. The firm trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker TRIP.
