Universal Display Corporation is a US-based technology company that operates as a global leader in researching, developing, and producing organic light emitting diode (OLED) materials. The company sells OLED materials for use in the manufacture of a range of displays, including for smartwatches, mobile phones, and TVs. The company was founded in 1994 and has developed from an R&D startup to a world leader in its field, with over 5,000 issued and pending patents in its portfolio. Universal Display’s headquarters are located in Ewing, New Jersey, and the company has offices in Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.

Lighting accounts for 15% of the world’s electricity consumption, so energy-efficient options such as OLED are in demand. Research conducted at Princeton University and the University of Southern California led to the breakthrough discovery of OLED technology in 1998. Universal Display’s materials are supplied to a range of leading manufacturers, such as Samsung for its Galaxy range and LG for its OLED TVs.
