Moderna Inc is an American pharmaceutical and biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a focus on the development of RNA therapeutics, and primarily on mRNA vaccines. The company’s mission is to deliver on the promise of mRNA science to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients. One of the industry’s leading mRNA technology platforms, the firm has been in operation since 2010 and operates globally.

Engaged in drug discovery and development, Moderna has a robust and rapidly expanding pipeline, with products aimed at viruses such as HIV, RSV, the Zika virus, and the Epstein Barr virus. The firm’s focus remains on the development of mRNA vaccines, which use a copy of a molecule called messenger RNA to produce an immune response in the human body. The firm is known for bringing to market the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
