The company operates online e-commerce marketplaces and online auction sites, hosting the largest online commerce and payments ecosystem in Latin America. The MercadoLibre platform enables the sale of motor vehicles, vessels, aircraft, services, real estate and various other goods throughout Latin America and beyond. The firm has been in operation since 1999.

Solutions offered by MercadoLibre, Inc. include online retail options, a classifieds service, digital and mobile payment solutions, advertising programs, and shipping services. The company has a presence in 18 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela and Peru.

A major focus of the company is to provide tailored technological and commercial solutions that address the distinct cultural and geographic challenges of operating an online commerce and payments platform in Latin America. The firm’s six integrated e-commerce solutions are its Marketplace and Classifieds Service, the MercadoPago payments solution, the MercadoLibre advertising program, the MercadoShops webstores solution and the MercadoEnvios shipping service.
