Moody's Corporation is an American credit rating, research, and risk analysis firm. The firm provides credit ratings, risk assessment, and related research, data and analytical tools, quantitative credit risk measures, risk scoring software, and credit portfolio management solutions. The company was founded in 1900 and is headquartered in New York City.

The company operates through two segments. Moody's Investors Service publishes credit ratings and provides assessment services on a range of debt obligations, programs and facilities, and the entities that issue such obligations. The second segment, Moody's Analytics, provides data and analytic solutions, developing a range of products and services that support financial analysis and risk management activities of institutional participants in global financial markets.

The firm’s aim is to help decision-makers to manage risk and identify opportunities by providing trusted insights and standards. The firm is also engaged in the provision of corporate and government credit assessment and training services, and credit software to financial institutions. Moody's employs approximately 3,000 people worldwide including more than 1,000 analysts. The company is listed on the NYSE where it trades under the stock ticker MCO.
