What Is McDonald's?
McDonald's Corporation is a leading American multi-national fast food company, and one of the most widely recognised brands in the world. The firm was founded in 1940 as a restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino, California. Today the firm’s global corporate headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois.

The firm has 38,000 locations around the world, with operations throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and in Africa and the Middle East. Almost 14,000 McDonalds locations are inside the US. However, more than half of the company’s revenues are generated internationally, in countries and territories outside the US.

The popular chain is well-known for its hamburgers, French fries, chicken-based products, breakfast products, desserts, and shakes, including specific branded products such as the Big Mac, McFlurry desserts and Chicken McNuggets. More than 90% of McDonalds restaurants are run by franchisees or affiliates. Most of the firm’s locations offer a range of services including drive through ordering, takeaway, delivery, curb side pick-up and dine-in options. The company trades on the NYSE where it is listed under the stock ticker MCD.
