What Is Livepeer?
Livepeer is an open platform for decentralised live video broadcasting with an aim to build the world's open video infrastructure. It was founded in 2017 with its headquarters in New York. Its services are available on its website and accessible worldwide.

Users interested in availing Livepeer's services can become developers, tokenholders, and video miners. These roles support the development of a decentralised video streaming network. Developers are provided with the materials (API, scalability, reliability) for building powerful video applications. They can check the open-source code of Livepeer on its website. Tokenholders can mine, stake, exchange Livepeer tokens (LPT). Video miners can gain profits by transcoding video while mining. This also allows them to run a node on the Livepeer network.

The GPU requirements for video mining can be accessed through Livepeer's website. Miners can keep their LPTs with their Livepeer Wallet through the Protocol Explorer. The explorer allows them to swap and import tokens and see orchestrators and latest voting results. The developers’ initiatives to use LPT and contribute to decentralising video stacks are incentivised through the Livepeer Grants Program. It gives up to $50,000 per quarter. Those incentivised are encouraged to keep their codes open source similar to Livepeer's sharing of its source codes.
