What Is Lithium Americas Corp?
Lithium Americas Corp is a Canadian lithium mining and production company operating in the USA and Argentina. The firm is focused on the advancement of two world class lithium projects: the Cauchari-Olaroz project based in Jujuy, Argentina, and the Thacker Pass project in Nevada, USA. The firm, founded in 2007, has its headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia, and aims to produce enough lithium to significantly reduce reliance on foreign supplies. Proposed production from the Thacker Pass project is anticipated to meet most or all of the demand for lithium within the USA.

The company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker LAC. In December 2020 the LAC price chart was showing a 52 week high of $22.47 and a 52 week low of $2.90. Lithium Americas Corp owns subsidiary companies, including the Lithium Nevada Corp and RheoMinerals Inc.

The Thacker Pass project is expected to create around 1000 jobs during the construction phase and 300 permanent jobs when operating at full capacity, plus several hundred indirect jobs through suppliers and services to support the project. The Cauchari-Olaroz project will employ around 920 people during construction and 270 during operation.
