Huazhu Group Ltd is an international multi-brand hotel group based in Shanghai, China. As of 2020, the firm has more than 6,000 hotels in operation, including around 750 leased and owned hotels and almost 5,500 manachised and franchised hotels, with an aggregate of nearly 600,000 hotel rooms worldwide. The firm has been in operation since 2007.

The group started out as a single economy hotel chain and now encompasses a number of distinct brands covering all market segments. There are around 20 hotel brands in the Huazhu Group, including Ni Hao Hotel, JI Hotel, Joya Hotel, and HanTing Hotel. All brands are covered by a single loyalty scheme known as the H Rewards Loyalty Program, which has over 150 million members.

The company’s own Huazhu-operated hotels are either leased or owned. Manachised hotels are properties that combine elements of both ‘managed’ and ‘franchised’ models, managed though on-site hotel managers appointed by the company who collect fees from franchisees. Under the straight franchise model, the firm collects fees from franchisees who manage the hotel themselves. The firm trades on the NASDAQ, where it is listed under the ticker HTHT.
