Founded in 2001, the company has its headquarters in Shanghai, with regional offices in Beijing, Suzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu. The firm’s data centres are carrier and cloud-neutral, allowing customers to access all major telecommunications networks and global public cloud service providers.

The firm has been publicly traded on the NASDAQ GM since November 2016 and is listed under the stock ticker GDS. As of January 2021, the GDS price chart was showing a 52-week high of $114.44 and a 52-week low of $43.27, with a market cap of $20.44bn.

The company operates numerous state-of-the-art facilities around China, including the number one data centre in Shenzhen. A total of 19 new data centres were added to the firm’s portfolio in 2018 and 2019. The firm was awarded various accolades in 2020, including the Most Influential New Infrastructure (Data Centre) Enterprise in Yangtze River Delta, and a New Infrastructure Star Enterprise.
