Essex Property Trust, Inc. is a fully integrated real estate investment trust (REIT) operating within the United States. The company acquires, develops, redevelops, and manages multifamily residential apartment communities primarily on the West Coast. Founded in 1971, Essex Property Trust has its headquarters in San Mateo, California.

Essex Property Trusts operates through four segments, including: Southern California, Northern California, Seattle Metro, and Other. The company's properties are primarily located in supply-constrained markets along the West Coast, including the Seattle metropolitan area, Southern California, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Some of the properties owned by Essex Property Trust include Ashton Sherman Village, Form 15, Mio, and Emerson Valley Village.

Available on the NYSE since 1994, Essex Property Trusts is publicly listed under the stock ticker ESS. As of November 2021, Essex owns or holds an interest in 246 apartment communities, with a total of approximately 60,000 apartment homes. The company also has an additional six properties in various stages of active development. Essex Property Trust owns all of its real estate and other investments through Essex Portfolio, L.P. either directly or indirectly.
