Equity Residential is a real estate company that primarily focuses on acquiring, developing, and managing residential properties located around dynamic cities with long-term renters. It was founded in 1967 with its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. It operates across different states within the United States, mostly in the most in-demand cities in the country.

Equity Residential owns or has investments in 305 properties consisting of over 78,000 apartment units. Most of its units are located in Boston, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Southern California, Denver, and the District of Columbia. Equity Residential creates its communities by purchasing apartments in batches of 100 or more. The transactions are offered in all-cash for both single asset and multiple asset acquisitions. Pre-sale opportunities can also be made, with all contact details and consultation opportunities available on its website.

Part of the company's mission is to build a safe community for its residents, which also applies to employee well-being. It offers learning, assistance, and career advancement opportunities.
