What Is Carlisle Companies Incorporated?
Trading in the health care sector, Commonwealth Serum Laboratories (CSL Ltd) develops and manufactures pharmaceuticals and diagnostic products from human plasma. Its products include paediatric and adult vaccines, infection and pain relief medicine, as well as skin remedies, antivenoms, anticoagulants, and immunoglobulins. As a leader in the biotech and pharma industry, CSL traces its beginning to 1916. Its headquarters can be found in Melbourne, Australia.

Since its inception, CSL has provided the Australian public with access to insulin, penicillin, and vaccines against infectious diseases like influenza and polio. The company operates through two divisions, CSL Behring and Seqirus. The Behring division deals primarily with plasma-based operations, while Seqirus centres around non-plasma products and therapies.

Listed on the ASX in 1994 under the ticker CSL, CSL Ltd was incorporated in 1991 after many mergers, such as with Aventis Behring (CSL Behring) and Nabi. It later formed the first plasma collection company with CSL Plasma. Also included under its umbrella is Novartis, the second-largest global influenza vaccine producer. Rounding out the business empire is Calimmune, a leader in gene-modification and cell delivery technology.
