What Is The Cooper Companies Inc?
CooperCompanies, Inc. operates as a global medical device company, offering a wide range of products and services designed to advance both vision care and women's health. Founded in 1980, Cooper Companies has its headquarters in San Ramon, California.

CooperCompanies operates through two segments: CooperVision and CooperSurgical. Through the CooperVision segment, the company develops, manufactures, and markets a range of products for contact lens wearers, including products for astigmatism, presbyopia, myopia, ocular dryness, and eye fatigue. Through the CooperSurgical segment, CooperCompanies offers medical devices as well as fertility, diagnostics, and contraception products and services. This segment's products are used primarily by obstetricians/gynaecologists (OB/GYN), fertility clinics, and laboratories. The company also develops mechanical surgical solutions for skin closure.

Stock for CooperCompanies is listed on the NYSE under the ticker COO. The company has a workforce of more than 12,000 employees and sells products in more than 100 countries. In May 2021, the company acquired obp Medical Corporation, a medical device company for approximately $60m. In November 2021, CooperCompanies announced plans to acquire Generate Life Sciences, a provider of donor egg and sperm for fertility treatments, fertility cryopreservation services, and new-born stem cell storage in a deal worth $1.6bn.
