Americold's facilities are an integral component of the supply chain connecting food producers, processors, distributors, and retailers to consumers. With its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, Americold Realty Trust was founded in 1903.
Also known as Americold Logistics, Americold operates through four segments: Warehouse, Transportation, Third-party Managed, and Other. The Warehouse segment handles temperature-controlled warehouse storage, related handling, and additional warehouse services. The Transportation segment includes managing and brokering the transportation of frozen and perishable foods and products for the company's customers through consolidation services, freight under management services, and dedicated transportation services. The Third-party Managed segment manages warehouses on behalf of third parties and provides management services for customer-owned facilities.

Throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina, Americold owns and operates 185 temperature-controlled warehouses. These warehouses include more than 1bn cubic feet of refrigerated storage. In November 2020, Americold acquired Hall’s Warehouse, a third-party logistics provider in a deal for $480m. At the same time, the company announced the expansion of the company's facility in Calgary, Canada, at a cost of $11m.
