Coinbase Global, Inc. is the largest U.S cryptocurrency exchange. It provides digital platform and e-wallet services to facilitate transactions. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in San Francisco, the company operates internationally in over 100 countries worldwide. As of April 2021, Coinbase provides data and transaction processing services to more than 56 million users.

The organisation's stated aim is to provide a reliable and secure user-friendly platform that allows for easier accessibility to the global crypto economy. Coinbase offers over 25 cryptocurrencies for investment and trading, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. Users are provided with several different product and service options. These include basic cryptocurrency investing, advanced trading platforms, custodial accounts for institutions and a wallet for retail investors. The company also provides educational materials for new and potential subscribers.

Coinbase was the first major cryptocurrency exchange to go public when they held their IPO via a direct listing in April 2021. Just prior to the IPO it was announced that expected revenues for Q1 2021 had exceeded $1.8bn, with profits of up to $800m, more than double the earnings for the entirety of 2020. Coinbase trades under the COIN ticker on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
