Coherent Inc was founded in 1966 and is based in Santa Clara, California. It is an electronics company specialising in photonics and laser technology. Serving a worldwide audience, the firm has offices in more than 25 locations across the globe, including Europe, Asia, and Australia. Coherent Inc focuses on the production of commercial lasers that provide a range of solutions across multiple industries and sectors, including materials processing, scientific research, life sciences, and defence.

The company is publicly listed on the NASDAQ GS under the ticker COHR. As of December 2020, the COHR price chart showed a 52-week low of $78.21 and a 52-week high of $178.08. The company does not pay a dividend to shareholders.

Coherent Inc has grown significantly over the years through both internal expansion and strategic acquisitions.
