What Is ChampionX Corporation?
ChampionX Corporation specialises in technological, chemical, drilling and automation solutions for the oil and gas sectors. Founded in 1928, the current-day ChampionX was formed through a merger between Apergy and Ecolab Inc.’s ChampionX upstream business in 2020. ChampionX has its headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas, and operates globally.

ChampionX operates its business through four segments: Production Chemical Technologies, Production & Automation Technologies, Drilling Technologies and Reservoir Chemical Technologies. The Production Chemical Technologies segment offers corrosion inhibitors, emulsion breakers, scale inhibitors and biocides. The Production & Automation Technologies segment designs, manufactures and services digital automation solutions, artificial life equipment and other production equipment. ChampionX’s Drilling Technologies segment is involved in the design and manufacture of polycrystalline diamond cutters and bearings. The Reservoir Chemical Technologies segment manufactures drilling additives, cement additives and fracturing fluid packages.

In July 2021, the company completed its acquisition of Scientific Aviation, Inc., a methane emissions monitoring solutions provider. In December 2021, ChampionX announced the acquisition of Tomson Technologies LLC and Group 2 Technologies LLC, two nanotechnology platform providers that assist energy companies in lowering their carbon footprints. Since April 2018, ChampionX stock has been listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker CHX.
