The company sells its products through grocery stores, mass merchandisers, clubs, convenience stores, natural retailer channels, restaurants, foodservice outlets, and schools, as well as through its e-commerce site. Originally known as Savage River Inc., the company changed its name to Beyond Meat Inc. in September 2018. It operates under various trademarks, including Beyond Meat, Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, and Beyond Chicken.

The company’s stock is listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker BYND. Beyond Meat and PepsiCo established a collaborative venture in January 2021 to develop, manufacture, and sell plant-based food and beverages. Subsequently, in May 2021, Tesco's exclusive plant-based Wicked Kitchen brand announced that it would work with Beyond Meat to introduce a frozen ready meal line in the UK. In 2013, Beyond Meat was named company of the year by PETA.
