What Is Couchbase Inc.?
Couchbase, Inc. is a NoSQL cloud database provider. The Couchbase server is an open-source, document-oriented database that optimises interactive applications. The company is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and operates internationally. Couchbase was founded in 2011 and has offices in Bangalore, London, Manchester, Austin, and San Francisco.

The company combines NoSQL and SQL to establish transitions from mainframe and relational databases. Couchbase’s mobile solutions consist of Couchbase Server, Couchbase Sync Gateway, and Couchbase Lite. The latter-mentioned is a smaller NoSQL database customised for mobile devices. The company’s scalable platform offers the capabilities required for business-critical applications. These applications include analytics, caching, cataloguing and inventories, and IoT data management. Amongst others, the energies and utilities, financial services, gaming, and manufacturing and logistics industries use Couchbase’s services.

Backed by investors that include Sorenson Capital, Mayfield, and GPI capital, the company launched its IPO on Wednesday 21st July 2021. With Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC and Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC as lead book-running managers, Couchbase sold 8.3 million of its common shares at $24 per share and raised $200 million with this IPO. As of July 2021, Couchbase is valued at $1.2 billion. The company trades on the NASDAQ under the BASE stock ticker.
