What Is Broadcom Inc?
Founded in 1961 as an American semiconductor solutions provider, Broadcom Inc. provide Broadband and Wi-Fi, Data Center, Mainframe, and many other technology solutions for their customers across the world. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California.

Broadcom was originally a division of Hewlett-Packard, until the division was purchased by Agilent Technologies in 1999. The company remained part of Agilent Technologies until 2005, when KKR and Silver Lake Partners purchased the chip division for $2.6 billion. The division became Avago Technologies. Avago purchased Broadcom from the Broadcom Corporation in 2016, electing to change the company name to Broadcom Inc., dropping the Avago name completely. However, the ticker symbol remained AVGO.

In December 2021 Broadcom disclosed intentions to buy privately owned AppNeta, a software firm situated in Boston, MA that delivers an enterprise SaaS-based network performance monitoring solution. According to Broadcom, the purchase would add to the company’s current DX NetOps capabilities, enhancing its network performance monitoring offering across internet and hybrid cloud-based applications. Broadcom Inc. stock is listed on the Nasdaq, with the stock also part of the Nasdaq-100 and S&P 500 components.
