ASX Ltd is a demutualised company that operates the national stock exchange and equities derivatives market in Australia. ASX operates markets for derivatives, equities, and fixed interest securities, as well as providing capital-raising for unlisted companies using advanced computer systems for both trading and settlement. ASX previously operated under the Australian Securities Exchange company name but following a merger with the Sydney Futures Exchange in 2006 was re-established under the ASX Ltd company name. It conducts business only in the Australian market. Its headquarters are in Sydney.

The company has a customer base that consists of both domestic and international clientele, with over 2,2000 listed companies as of 2022. In addition to acting as a market operator, clearinghouse and payments system facilitator, ASX also oversees compliance with the terms of its operating rules and governance standards.
