Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. is a real estate investment trust (REIT). The company owns, operates, and develops space for lease to the life science and technology industries in North America. Founded in 1994, Alexandria has its headquarters in Pasadena, California.

Alexandria Real Estate Equities has established a market presence in several key locations, including Greater Boston, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Maryland, and Research Triangle. As of September 2021, the company has 38.7m rentable square feet (RSF) of operating properties, with an occupancy rate of 94.4%. Alexandria also has another 4.3m RSF under construction in late 2021. The company focuses on the development of life science, agtech, and technology campuses in urban areas.

Alexandria Real Estate Equities stock is listed on the NYSE under the ticker ARE. In addition to developing space, Alexandria also provides strategic capital to select life science, agtech, and technology companies through its venture capital platform.
