Ameriprise Financial Inc is a diversified financial and bank holding company that offers products and services to help customers with financial planning. Some of its products include asset management, estate ̣planning, insurance, annuities, and wealth management. The company was founded in 1894 and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Formerly known as the American Express Financial Corporation, the company later changed its name to Ameriprise Financial Inc in 2005. Its businesses in the United States are handled by three primary subsidiaries: Ameriprise Financial Services, Columbia Threadneedle Investments, and RiverSource Life Insurance Company.

All of the company’s products and services operate under four segments: Advice & Wealth Management, Asset Management, Retirement & Protection solutions, and Corporate & Other. Financial planning, brokage services, cash management, and mutual funds all come under Advice & Wealth Management. ETFs, investments, high net worth, and other property funds come under Assets Management. The Retirements & Protection segment deals with annuities and insurance, while the Corporation & Others segment handles other responsibilities that do not fall under the three categories highlighted above.

Ameriprise Financial Inc is traded publicly on the NYSE under the ticker AMP.US. Its stock has been trading on this exchange market since 2005.
