What Is Kunlun Energy Co Ltd?
KUNLUN ENERGY (00135.HK) is an integrated energy company, majority-owned by PetroChina, a state-owned Chinese enterprise, incorporated in Bermuda and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It is a constituent of the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index. Formed in 1994, the company has actually had a listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1993, achieved via a reverse takeover.

Kunlun is an oil- and gas-focused energy company with four main divisions – Exploration and Production, Natural Gas Sales, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Processing and Terminal, and Natural Gas Pipeline. It has operations in Azerbaijan, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Oman, and Peru.

Until 2008, Kunlun Energy was focused on oil and gas exploration and development before a strategic decision in 2009 to establish a liquefied natural gas (LNG) division. The company’s focus has moved to gas and it now provides urban gas as a utility, natural gas pipelines, receiving, processing, storage and transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG), LNG/CNG terminals, natural gas power generation and distributed energy and sale of liquefied petroleum gas across 31 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
