  • What is a virtual account?

    A virtual account on eToro replicates the same features and market conditions as a real investing account, but it’s used for simulation purposes only. It is ideal for testing out the platform and practicing your investing skills.

  • What’s the difference between a demo account and a real account?

    Investing with a virtual account is simulated and uses virtual funds only. Investing with a real account is actual investing, using real funds that you need to deposit in your eToro account balance.

  • How do I set up my free demo account?

    Just follow these 3 simple steps:

    1. Log in to the eToro platform or create an account for free.
    2. Access the demo by selecting Virtual Portfolio from the menu under your username at the top left-hand corner of your account dashboard.
    3. You will see $100,000 in virtual funds appear in your balance.

    Note: you may use the Real/Virtual menu to switch between your real portfolio and virtual portfolio at any time. Any investing done while in the virtual portfolio uses virtual funds only and does not incur any fees nor affect your actual account balance.

  • How can I switch between real and virtual accounts?

    Log in to the eToro platform or create an account for free.

    1. Click on the menu at the top left-hand corner of your account dashboard.
    2. When the menu appears, scroll to the bottom where you can choose “Switch to Virtual”.

    You may use the menu to switch between real Portfolio and virtual Portfolio at any time.

  • How do I add funds to my virtual account?

    All eToro accounts are automatically credited with $100,000 in virtual funds for investing with the virtual portfolio.

    A user can add funds to their virtual account by opening a ticket with Customer Service. Specify in your message how much you would like to have added. The maximum amount we can add to your virtual balance is $100,000. We can also remove virtual funds from your account down to a minimum of $2,000.

  • Is this practice account suitable for beginners?

    New investors will find the virtual portfolio very useful. eToro’s virtual portfolio simulates real-world investing, allowing beginners to learn how to invest by practicing for free.
